Key Factors of Spiritual Development

I think I'm becoming much more analytical and objective. And so nowadays I like to follow a rigorous process to get to a valid, definitive result.

Of course with spiritual matters, it's always going to be a bit airy fairy, so how can you REALLY objectively decide which are the main factors that go into spiritual development?

Well, I personally think one way of doing it is in asking a bunch of people who consider themselves spiritual and then ask them what factors contributed towards their development. The more the people reply, the more reliable the end result will be.

So, I ask you all who are reading this post, please leave a comment on this post and tell us what are the MAIN factors you think which contributed towards your spiritual development (the more you include the merrier!)? Then we'll compile a list and publish it!

For my contribution, I shall include the following three:

  1. Doing regular spiritual practice
  2. Becoming more truthful with my emotions and feelings
  3. Learning to speak the truth

Sat Nam, great initiative! I'm curious about the results already.:)

Here's my list - this is a chronological order of factors:

    1. Pain. Total pain of separation from the Infinite.
    2. Starting a regular practice (yoga, prayer)
    3. Learning through that practice to forgive myself and to let go of sin and shame.
