Key Factors of Spiritual Development (Part 2)

Key Factors of Spiritual Development (© New Life Awakening 2011)
So, I've been working recently on getting some material together for my new business venture called New Life Awakening. I thought it would be nice to share the journey I'm following to create my business. It's in a few key defined stages.

Stage 1: Gather together all the key factors of spiritual development. Read many ancient scriptures to extract their wisdom. Read personal development articles to decide what's important in the modern context. So far, I have captured (I hope) the essence of Sikhism, Buddhism, Hinduism (Vedanta), Kundalini Yoga and Meditation.

Stage 2: Group these factors into various common categories, for example, I created:
  • 4 macro-categories: Being, Mind, Soul, Body
  • 8 categories: Virtue, Perspective, Awareness, Relationship, Lifestyle, Purpose, Service, Inspiration
  • 76 sub-categories: Managing Emotions, Truth, Fearlessness, Learning, Managing Thoughts, Openness, Balance, Charity, Contradictions, Dissolving, Graceful, Honest Communication, Independence, Innocence, Intuition, Kindness, Listening, Peace, Persistence, Present, Reality, Sacrifice, Self, Acceptance, Actions, Adulthood, Awe, Body, Clarity, Collaboration, Community, Compassion, Contentment, Controlled Speech, Dancing, Democracy, Dreams, Eating, Ego, Flowing, Forgiveness, Grateful, Heart, Humility, Humour, Integrity, Life, Love, Managing Change, Managing Pressure, Meditation, Music, No Comparison, No Competition, No Expectations, No Judgement, Non-Attachment, Non-Violence, One-pointed Mind, Parents, Patience, People, Perfection,  Personality, Perspective, Proactive, Purposeless, Role model, Service, Sex, Silence, Simplicity, Sweetness, Teacher, Transcending, Trust
Note: These categorisations will not make any sense on their own. Perhaps later I shall publish the Excel spreadsheet of all the factors if there is a demand for it, but for now I shall explain some of these factors in the commentary below.

Stage 3: Assess the importance of and prioritise each of the factors of spiritual development, to highlight which ones truly are the key factors of spiritual development. This will be done using the wisdom from Sikhism, Buddhism, Hinduism (Vedanta), Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, and using a mass survey to gather the ideas of the wider community (which I shall be sending out this week).

Commentary on Key Factors of Spiritual Development graph

In total I have identified 117 factors, out of which 68 are virtues; 13 are perspective based; 13 are awareness based; 8 are relationship based; 6 are lifestyle based; 5 are purpose related; 2 are service related and 2 are inspiration related, all which must be all be mastered in order for a human being to become fully enlightened.

If you see the graph in the top-left which is called the Key Factors of Spiritual Development, this graph beautifully demonstrates that the majority of factors are concentrated under the Being macro-category and Virtue sub-category.

The Being macro-category is different from the Soul, as the Soul is the essence of a human being and never changes, it's eternal, whereas the Being is the soul almost in motion and is always in constant change. For example, today I am 'being' courageous, but tomorrow I may be 'being' scared, but in both occasions my soul is always fearless. Thus by mastering all these various ways of being or virtues we can become in touch with our eternal nature, the soul. Virtues are qualities of being, for example, acceptance, patience, compassion. All these are important virtues which must be cultivated, developed, so that their flourish in full bloom like a flower.

The next biggest macro-category is Mind, with the sub-category Perspective. Perspective is about challenging our own views, opinions and notions about reality, truth, ourselves, our identity, the world and God etc. Its about how we see the world through our eyes.

Later, when I have delved a bit more deeper into the data, I shall publish some more statistics for all of you to enjoy.

What is the purpose of creating these key factors?

In many ways what I am compiling is a contemporary authority of all spiritual wisdom to date, so by the time somebody completes mastering all the qualities I've noted, there is absolutely no chance of them not becoming fully enlightened, radiant, royal, beautiful, powerful, humble, effective, God-like human beings. And I do not say God-like lightly, I really do mean God-like.

I have spent many years tirelessly experimenting with all number of spiritual technologies, philosophies, religions and producing results in personal growth and effectiveness for myself, but on top of all of that, I am not letting my limited experience and wisdom limit what factors will go into this list. Which is why I shall be opening up this list for debate and discussion, so that other spiritual people can add to it, refine it and together we can create the most comprehensive set of qualities to create fully enlightened human beings.

Producing fully enlightened human beings is the goal of my business New Life Awakening. I'm not going to waste my time on producing courses which just give people a buzz or make them feel good for a little while and then the effects wear off (which is how most personal development courses end up). Instead, I shall invest my time to produce comprehensive courses which cover every aspect of human development and as a result produce the best, most effective and evolved human beings on the planet. Also, as a result, I shall only work with those who are the best. Everyone who wishes to come onto a NLA course will be personally vetted by myself to assess their current level of spiritual development, to see if they are ready to take themselves to the next level which the course shall guarantee. This isn't just a passion for me, this is what my entire life is about ;). My philosophy is why patch a broken shell, when you can spend time shining an unbroken one?

The Four Blessings

I went to the Gurdwara this morning and there was this Kathakaar (person who explains spiritual teachings), who was speaking in Punjabi. At first I thought, "this is such an outdated way of doing things". And I was also thinking "how would any young person understand this guy". And also I thought "this guy is just doing it for the money and is very inauthentic". But despite these thoughts, I still listened carefully and when he started to explain, my thoughts dissipated - because what he was explaining was profound.

He began to explain that a Sikh, or learner, on a path of spirituality, receives four blessings. This should not be confused with the four blessings which are the four basic needs for all people (known as Char Padarath).

The first blessing, is one which every Sikh will be familiar with: Karah Parshaad, also called Sero (as shown in the left picture). This is just a sweet pudding which is made with a consciousness and with a vibration which when consumed, raises our own magnetic frequency...and its quite tasty too! Yum!

The second blessing comes from the Guru, called Gurprasaad. This is when a person has been on the spiritual path for a while and the Guru, the teacher, the light, the guide, blesses the Sikh with the ability to control the five desires of sex, anger, greed, attachment and ego. This only ever happens with the blessing of the Guru.

The third blessing is where the ego goes, called Tav Prasaad which means "Your Blessing" - referring to God. The "I" or the identity is smashed and instead is replaced with "You" or "Thou". So instead of a Sikh identifying with their own individual nature, the Sikh begins to identify with their higher, Supreme, Godly nature. Then a Sikh becomes God.

The fourth blessing is where the Sikh who has become God, then shares this path of purity of heart (Khalsa), with the whole world. So the final blessing, is not received by the Sikh, it is given by the Sikh to others. The example given was that of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and final master of the Sikhs, who created the Khalsa, the society of those who are pure, and then himself bowed before his creation and asked if he may become a part of it.

So there we have it, the four blessings on the Sikh path, explained in English, translated from Punjabi ;).

Astral Communication

There is communication in the outer world, and there is communication in the inner world, or the astral realms. Personally, I do a lot of communication in the astral realms - I know that's weird, but oh well. There are some mechanics to astral communication and some advantages of why it's better than physical communication:

Physical Communication vs. Astral Communication

  • Physical communication involves you being in front the person, or having to a technology e.g. internet, phone which allows you to be in front of the person in some way. Astral communication you can talk with any person/being any time any where in the Universe - with only YOU required, no technology.
  • Physical communication requires the person you're talking to is alive. Astral communication allows you to talk with those who have moved on.
  • Physical communication can only happen in the present. Astral communication can happen in the past, present or even the future (although physical communication can be about the past and future).

    How to do Astral communication?

You probably do it anyway, but you're just not aware of it. However, if your own issues you're going through are too much or you're too self-absorbed in your own problems, then that's all you'll dream about. Once you've got through your own stuff, you'll discover this form of communication begins to occur naturally as you become more service-orientated and more compassionate, and you're oozing with so much growth, knowledge, experience and wisdom that in your waking life you do not have enough time to share it all, so you begin to share it with others in the astral realms.

The astral realms become an additional place to deepen you're life's experience. You begin to teach, express, challenge, share with others your experiences directly into people's soul and their core being. There can be no resistance in the astral realms to a receiving a teaching, once you have received the teaching it takes effect right away.

Let's share a few examples and movies to explain this more clearly.

    Examples of Astral communication

Example 1. If you're ever watched Avatar, you'll understand the concept of, when going to sleep you enter into another world. So most people usually go to sleep and can't remember what they dreamed. Others can remember very vividly. And fewer still, are actually somewhat conscious even when they are dreaming, conscious enough to teach, share and communicate with others whilst still in the sleeping state. So even sleep then becomes a vehicle of a lot of activity, learning and sharing.

Example 2. If you have seen Inception, you'll understand the idea of implanting an idea deep within the core of somebody's mind or being. If the concept is planted deep enough whilst the person is asleep, when they wake up they'll have forgotten the dream but the idea will sprout and could fundamentally change a person's personality. Mastering astral communication allows a person to do this in a compassionate and responsible way to other people, and is as a way of silently evolving all those around them.

Example 3. Say you said something to somebody which destroyed your relationship with them, and now you've not spoken to them physically for say one year. Astral communication would allow you to return to the event when you said what you said, and then to change the conversation of the event to truly express what you meant, or to just say sorry that you were wrong, or just to change the conversation completely so it never turned into an argument or a breakup in the first place. If you successfully do that in the astral realms, you are actually changing the past, and so the future you then wake up to will be different in reality. For example, the person who you changed the event with may contact you the following morning to ask how you are (which would prove that astral communication works actually)

Example 4. Say somebody close to you died in your family and you never had a chance to say goodbye. You can communicate what you wanted to say to them and finally move on in your life, and overcome the loss of being incomplete.

Example 5. Say you thought we were alone in the Universe, or the only intelligent beings, or that the only types of beings in the universe had to be made of matter. Astral communication can put you in touch with beings in the Universe that co-exist with us, that are beyond us and even below us, so you can be humbled.

All in all, astral communication rocks!!!

So, I felt these were some very cool examples and as I write this it feels amazing to share them. This subject of the astral realms is rooted in so many exciting ideas we find in our cinematography, exploration of space, our stories and many myths we've grown up with, with the difference being that we are talking about these things in reality here, rather than for the purposes of fiction. So its quite an exciting subject to explore further, but I think as an introduction, this is sufficient and hopefully gives you readers a flavour about what to expect, how to explore these worlds and what are the benefits of doing so.
